2018 No Roof Leak Behind Winner

CONGRATULATIONS STEVE AND APRIL OF BELLEVUE

Congrats to Steve and April of Bellevue, OH on winning a free roof from North Coast Roofing of Ohio inc. and No Roof Left Behind. You name it, it seems Steve has had to battle it. I met Steve in 2007 when we bought the house next door and since then he has battled Crohn’s Disease, Skin Cancer, Colon Cancer, Brain Cancer, Lung, Kidney, Stomach you name it they were finding Cancer on it. While constantly fighting for his life, Steve and his wife are still raising a family. They have 5 boys, including twins that passed shortly after birth after a nurse spread an illness to the entire NICU in 2001, and now 3 grandchildren 2 of which live with them. His faith has never wavered and even has taken on the role of Pastor at a local church. He is a military vet, an outstanding community member, Dad, Grandpa, Pastor, Neighbor and Friend. He is a true inspiration, and expert fighter when it comes to his life. Steve’s Story: April and I married at 17 and 16 years old, at which time I went into the Army and served during Desert Storm. Upon discharge from the Army I worked at Norfolk Southern. In 1991 I was diagnosed with crohn’s disease and had to have more than 20 surgeries to remove bowel, which I now have less than half of my bowel left. In 2016 I was diagnosed with colon cancer and was given 6 months to a year to live, Which I have beaten. Then this last year I was outside weed-eating when I collapsed and had a seizure. I was then taken to the ER and at CT scan revealed a spot on my brain which ended up being diagnosed as stage 4 metastatic melanoma. I had brain surgery last July and removed part of the tumor but since then it has spread to my left kidney, left lung and back. I’m being treated with immune therapy at Cleveland clinic and have went though radiation. I was placed onto disability with the railroad in 2013 on account of the Crohn’s disease. I have had good days and really bad days, but I have pushed on and have pushed to beat this cancer as I have my wife, and son Jonah beside me pushing as well as my two older son’s and three grandchildren. I have not, nor will I ever give up, I have taken on an associate Pastor position at Compass Church of God and I believe I can help those that are going through trials and tribulations. I am not one that likes to ask for help, but the cost of all the medical procedures and the chemo that I depend on to live have made it impossible to pay for a new roof so this would be a blessing to myself and my family.
