We’re proud to announce that we’re donating a brand-new roof to CJ and Erin as they rebuild their lives after a devastating fire.
A Tragic Loss in Olena
On January 21, 2025, a fire tore through the Swander family’s home in Olena, Ohio, leaving nothing but ashes in its wake. According to WMFD, the blaze started in the garage and quickly engulfed the house, destroying the rural retreat CJ and Erin had spent years building. The couple lost nearly everything: furniture, clothes, family heirlooms, and, most heartbreakingly, the ashes of their daughter who died in July of 2024. They also lost 2 dogs and the ashes of a dog that died in December.
As reported by the New London Newsroom, the Swanders sifted through the rubble, salvaging what little they could. Despite the overwhelming loss, their resilience shone through, inspiring those around them. The Olena community rallied, raising over $31,000 through a GoFundMe campaign to support the family, as noted in the Chronicle Telegram.
Why We’re Stepping Up
When we learned about the Swanders’ story, it hit close to home. As a family-owned business rooted in Northern Ohio, we’ve always believed in giving back to the communities we serve. The Swanders’ strength in the face of such loss moved us, and we wanted to do our part to help them rebuild. Donating a new roof is our way of providing not just shelter, but hope for a brighter future.
